The FUNDus! Collection Portal now presents about 400 digital photographs from the Günter Brannahl Archive relating to the restoration of valuable manuscripts in Yemen in the 1980s. Most of them were taken during trips to Yemen as part of a project at the University of Hamburg. During these trips to Yemen in the late 1970s and early 1980s, the Göttingen-based restorer Günter Brannahl (d. 1986) photographed not only the manuscripts themselves before and after restoration, but also the city and several regions.
The Günter Brannahl Archive is part of the collections of the Asia-Africa Institute (AAI) at the University of Hamburg.
